As part of our ongoing curriculum development, the staff team have piloted Knowledge Organisers for history and geography themes taught since the spring term 2022.
Knowledge Organisers can be used in many ways; at All Saints’ we aim to develop them to support:
- the planning and prioritisation of the most important knowledge for each subject taught
- pupils and staff to quiz themselves and others on this knowledge
- opportunities for retrieval practice
- strengthening links (schema building) between concepts
Our ultimate aim is maximise opportunities for learning to ‘stick’, facilitating deeper understanding and long-term retention of knowledge.
