Home Learning Opportunities
Reading
Please encourage your child to read daily for a minimum of 10 minutes. At least 3 reading sessions per week should be recorded in the school Reading Record. Children should all have a school reading book (that can be changed regularly) but should be encouraged to read other material as well.

English Projects
1. Two‑Word Kenning Poem (Creativity + Respect)
Write a kenning poem about an animal, person, or toy.
Show respect for your subject by choosing thoughtful words.
Optional: dedicate your poem to someone you care about.
Maths Projects
3. Measure Your World! (Respect for Learning)
Measure 10 objects at home and order them from shortest to longest.
Use careful measuring to show respect for accuracy.
4. Fraction Pizza or Fruit Salad (Service + Love)
Create a fractions pizza or fruit salad showing ½, ¼, ⅓.
Share it with your family to show service and love.
History – Victorian Ilkley Projects
5. “A Day in Victorian Ilkley” Mini‑Book (Respect + Compassion)
Create a booklet showing what life was like in Victorian Ilkley.
Try to imagine how people lived and show compassion for how different life was.
6. Census Detective (Respect + Perseverance)
Make a census of your home.
Compare life now to Victorian times.
Use perseverance to collect all the details!
Science – Light
7. Shadow Investigation (Perseverance)
Track your shadow at three times of the day.
Keep going even if the weather changes , great perseverance!
8. Make a Shadow Puppet (Creativity + Love)
Create a puppet using card.
Put on a shadow show for your family to spread love and joy.
Art – Inspired by William Morris
9. William Morris Pattern (Respect + Perseverance)
Design your own repeating pattern using flowers, leaves or shapes.
Careful, repeated patterns show respect for detail and perseverance.
Music
10. Homemade Percussion Instrument (Creativity + Service)
Make a shaker, drum or maraca using recycled materials.
Use it to perform a short rhythm for your family — a lovely act of service.
Computing – Branching Databases
11. Yes/No Animal Quiz (Respect)
Create a branching quiz using yes/no questions.
Show respect for your readers by making questions clear and fair.

12. Feelings Poster about Sacrifice (Compassion + Love)
Choose a story where someone helps others.
Make a poster showing how they showed love and compassion.
PSHE – Rights & Responsibilities
13. Community Kindness Challenge (Love · Compassion · Service)
Complete five acts of kindness.
Record what you did and how it helped someone.
This shows service, compassion and love in action.
French – Paris Landmarks
14. Paris Landmark Fact Card (Respect + Perseverance)
Create a fact card about a Paris landmark.
Write one French sentence.
Show perseverance by practising your French pronunciation carefully.
Be Creative! You can make a scrapbook, a giant poster, a PowerPoint slideshow or even a video diary. Add drawings, photos, maps, charts, and anything else to make your project exciting and colourful.
Please bring your home project during the week beginning 16th March . The suggested projects are just ideas. You are welcome to create anything you like based on what we’ve learned this term.
