Class teacher’s welcome
Welcome to Ladybird class.
The children have all settled beautifully in to their new class and the routines. It has been a real pleasure to get to know their different personalities and interests. We are all very proud of their confidence and bravery. The children are engaged in all the areas of provision and enjoying play based learning. The home corner, sand area and playdough are very popular! Thank you so much for bringing the special boxes in to school. The children have loved sharing these with both the teachers and their friends. This term is going to be all about the little routines we have in place in the classroom. They will have a phonics lesson each day where they are expected to sit on the carpet. The children will sit down for a snack in the middle of the morning and have a number lesson. We encourage the children to drink water each day and they now know that they can go to the toilet at any time during the day! Parents will get the opportunity to come and play with their child on a stay and play session. The children love to show parents around their new classroom.

Welcome to Foundation 2026 Autumn
Take a little look at all the children in their new classroom. It has been lovely to to observe the children in all the areas of learning – chatting in the sand, problem solving in the water, building zoos and houses, painting, drawing their families, writing cards for friends, sharing stories, sharing their special boxes, making up stories with the jungle animals and pretending in the puppet theatre! Communication and personal development is our main focus at the start of the year.
Curriculum news
This term we are learning all about autumn. We will be observing the weather and the many changes that happen in this season. We will be learning about animals that hibernate and planting some spring bulbs in our garden. Play based learning will be at the very heart of everything we do both indoors and outdoors. At the start of the year our main aim is to ensure all the children are happy and comfortable in their new classroom. We will support the children in making new friends, being caring, empathetic and kind. Our school values of love, compassion, respect and perseverance will be integral to our learning. Reception Curriculum Autumn 1 2026
Outdoor learning is just as important as indoor learning. We go out in all weathers so please make sure your child has wellies and a waterproof coat in school! The children have loved dressing up, building with the large construction, running, chasing, making wonderful mud pies, basketball, pretending in the cafe and bike riding. Children need to be outside in the fresh air and in the rain and learn about the world around them, noticing changes and patterns in nature. All the children will become avid bird watchers by the end of the year!

The children are beginning to blend and read simple words. This is a very exciting time and the children are eager to read. Please support your child by encouraging them to read their book as often as they can. Your support and encouragement at home is vital in ensuring success.
