Bee Class

Class teacher’s welcome

A very warm welcome to the ‘Bee Class’ page!

We have had a wonderful start to the school year, and it has been a joy to see all of the Year 1 & Year 2 children settling in so beautifully.

In Bee Class, we strive to create a kind, nurturing and happy environment where every child feels valued, supported and encouraged to thrive. Our classroom is built upon our school values of Compassion, Service, Respect, and Perseverance. We show compassion by caring for and supporting one another, respect by celebrating our differences and listening to others, service by helping those around us, and perseverance by always trying our best, even when things feel challenging.

We are so excited for a year full of learning, laughter, creativity and new adventures together in Bee Class!

Reading

Please encourage your child to read daily for a minimum of 10 minutes. At least 3 reading sessions per week should be recorded in the school Reading Record. Children should all have a school reading book (that can be changed regularly) but should be encouraged to read other material as well.

Year 2
During the first half of the Autumn Term, Year 2 children will be revisiting and consolidating their Phase 5 phonics to strengthen their reading and spelling skills. This revision will take place during the first five weeks of term. From the second half of Autumn Term 1 onwards, children will begin receiving weekly spelling lists to learn and practise at home. These spellings will support the phonics patterns and spelling rules being taught in class. Please find the links to our phonics resources and upcoming spelling lists below:

Maths

All children have access to NumBots, which is a fun and engaging online programme designed to help develop number fluency and arithmetic skills. We encourage regular practice at home to help build confidence and improve recall of number facts.
