Year 6 welcome Robbie Moore MP

A huge thank you to Robbie Moore for taking time in his schedule to visit All Saints’.

Robbie talked to Year 6 about his life as our local MP and what his job consists of – we learnt he works very long days and rarely gets a day off! The focus of our visit was linked to our work on the environment, which has been a focus over the last few months.

Some children shared their work with Robbie: a hypothetical write using the subjunctive form: ‘If I were the local MP’. We found that the children’s passions very much mirrored the work that Robbie is working hard to campaign for. This being the river, the refuse site and the proposed housing estates.

The children then had some time to ask some of their own questions, which were well-thought out and clearly showed their interest in the work he did. Our year 6 children were a credit to the school and Ilkley.

After this session, Robbie met some members of Eco council and a school council rep and we toured the school. The children talked passionately about the forest school area and Robbie was impressed with the amount of space and variety of areas we had to offer the children. He was very impressed with EYFS outdoor provision.

A great morning, which I’m sure will have inspired our children that they can make a change if they feel passionate about it.
