About the Course

The Ilkley All Saints’ Teacher Training Partnership is a well-established full-time programme delivering Primary PGCE courses for the 3-7 or 5-11 age ranges.

We are a delivery partner accredited by Leeds Trinity University offering the majority of our teaching sessions at our hub (All Saints’ C of E Primary School in Ilkley) delivered by expert professionals who, for the most part, are still involved in front line Primary School Education within our partnership.

The teachers in our partnership are excellent practitioners who share a desire to be at the forefront of curriculum innovation, making learning topical, purposeful and thought-provoking. Sessions delivered will support you to become a teacher, learning what needs to be taught, how to plan sequences of learning for the children in your care and how to reflect on your practice with reference to recent research and evidence.

As a relatively small partnership, our cohorts soon become a close support network for each other, offering advice, encouragement and a shared sense of achievement with successes throughout the year. The ITT Lead and School Mentors work closely together to ensure that trainees are supported and given excellent CPD opportunities within placements to ensure the breadth of experiences matches the needs of a Primary School practitioner continuing on their Early Career Teacher (ECT) journey.

As an ITT Partnership, we have an excellent track record. Last year, the full cohort gained QTS at the end of the course and there was 100% success rate in trainees gaining employment in the Education Sector, the majority of these positions being within the local area.

We look forward to working with you, offering high-quality training, mentoring and coaching that will develop you as a teacher.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

You will be invited to an interview in person at All Saints’ Primary School, Ilkley. The interview panel will comprise of the ITT Lead and another member of the ITT Team and/or a Tutor from Leeds Trinity University. You will be asked to discuss a planned teaching activity based around a storybook of your choice which is appropriate for the age range that you hope to teach. You will also be asked a series of questions related to your ambition to become a teacher.

School Placements

Here at Ilkley All Saints’ Teacher Training Partnership, we offer two ITT programmes as a Delivery Partner with Leeds Trinity University (LTU); PGCE Primary (3-7) and PGCE Primary (5-11).

We currently partner with 11 ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Good’ local Primary Schools with proven track records for supporting ITT trainees towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Both course routes provide you with supported, school-based experiences, split into three teaching placements. On the 3-7 route, you will have one placement in EYFS, another in Year 1 and another in Year 2 across the course. Generally, your first placement will be in one school and the other two placements will be in a different, contrasting school within the partnership. The three placements are developmental. In your first placement, you will be expected to work alongside the class teacher,

working with small groups and delivering parts of lessons. By the end of the final placement, you will take the responsibility expected of an Early Career Teacher (ECT).

Alongside the professional training covering the Core Content Framework (CCF) for Initial Teacher Training provided by Ilkley All Saints’ and LTU, these 8 week placements will give you the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required of a Primary practitioner through observation of expert colleagues and through developing your own practice in the classroom with the support of experienced Class Teachers, School Mentors, ITT lead and Link Tutors from LTU.

During those weeks when you are not on placement, you will spend the majority of your time at Ilkley All Saints’ and LTU. You will receive teaching from the university academic staff for the Level 7 element of your course which gives you the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) element of your qualification.

Through our partnership, you will have access to a huge range of specialist leaders who will contribute to your professional development in all areas of the profession.
